The sign that started it all...
& what's happening in the community this week
📝 Editor’s Note
Yesterday we unveiled a new look for 57.
Our original logo was never designed — it was gifted. A friend passing through town crashed on our basement couch one night and left behind a neon sign that spelled “57.” That sign became the first thing you’d see descending the stairs into our studio, our stage, our dance floor. It became us. Without anyone planning it, it became our identity.
For five years, our logo has literally been a photo of that sign. And that felt right. Because 57 was born from exactly that kind of energy — friends showing up, contributing something, and shaping this thing together. So much of what we’ve become grew from that spirit: a gift from a friend, glowing in a basement where music gets made, stories get told, and strangers become family.
But as this community has grown beyond our walls — from intimate gatherings in Williamsburg, to podcasts, to a record label, and a creative network thousands deep — we wanted our identity to grow with it. Not away from its roots, but forward with them.
We’re unveiling a new logo that echoes that original neon while looking forward to what 57 is becoming: a creative community pushing culture forward, sharing everything we’re so privileged to experience here in NYC with the rest of the world.
A reminder of where we came from. A sign of where we’re going.

🌟 Upcoming 57 Gatherings
Tonight, 57 is partnering with Reading Rhythms for an evening centered on the shared experience of reading in community.
Bring any book you’re currently reading and join us for a thoughtfully curated program featuring silent reading set to music, small-group discussions, and one-on-one conversations sparked by the question, “What are you reading?”
No assigned books. No preparation required—just a welcoming space, focused time, and meaningful connection with fellow readers.
Take a moment to slow down, reconnect with stories, and enjoy a sense of community through reading together.
